Egypt football riot: Tension in Cairo protests loom

The masses are rising tensions in the center of Cairo meeting after the riots in Port Said on Wednesday that left at least 74 people.
Disgruntled fans shut Tahrir Square and state television on the eve of a protest against police handling of the conflict.
Three days of national mourning were declared in rebellion, where fans invaded the pitch after the match that a top Cairo club Al-Ahly covers.
Emergency Meetings of the government and parliament held.
Parliament began with a minute's silence. President Mohamed Saad al-Katatni said the insurgency was "the devil's work" and the Egyptian revolution "in danger".
Funerals are expected to take after midday (10:00 GMT) prayers in Port Said.

Confederation of African Football said a minute's silence in the quarter-finals match African Nations Cup will be held over the weekend.

The protesters, many of them al-Ahly fans ultras known, with metal barriers and vehicles to the closure of Tahrir Square, the scene of large demonstrations last year that led to the overthrow of President Hosni Mubarak.

They are heavily involved in the confrontation with police during recent political protests, our correspondent adds, and there is speculation that the security forces may have expressed interest in them.
Police in Egypt has a much lower profile than the previous year, the popular protests that toppled President Hosni Mubarak held from power.

Wednesday night, injuring several hundred Said in Cairo Station Station and gathered the first port of corpses, some slogans against the military government.
"Everybody has to beat us. They beat us inside and outside, with fireworks, stones, metal bars and some knives, I swear," said one fan told a private television station.
Army used to Port Said, and joined police patrols around the morgues and hospitals, but most of the streets have no police presence.
The army up checkpoints at the entrances to the city.
Port Said security chief Essam Samak was dismissed after the uprising, state media said.


Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, Chief of the Egyptian ruling party of war, went to an airbase near Cairo to Al-Ahly players who flew home from Port Said to meet on military aircraft.
"It will not topple Egypt ... These incidents happen everywhere in the world. We will not give those who are behind him," he said after the news agency Associated Press.

Our correspondent says some fans have put a knife into the stadium, a lack of the usual levels of security at the stadium have contributed to the conflict.
On Wednesday the outbreak of violence in the late game, which is unusual for Port Said club Al-Masry won 3-1.
Witnesses said the atmosphere was tense during the game - from Al-Ahly fan insult banner home team fans.
When the game ended, fans flooded the field to their Al-Ahly attacking players and fans.

Even as violence continues in Port Said, football, Egyptians began to doubt, ask if they are dark forces at play.
Muslim Brotherhood, now the largest party in parliament, threw the remnants of Mubarak's regime deliberately provoked rebellion in an attempt to reduce the country into chaos.
Egyptian soccer fans can be incredibly violent. But what is immediately aroused suspicion, the fact is that Al-Ahly fans knew ultras, has become a political force as well. They were at the forefront of many major confrontations with security forces last year.
